| Modest Mouse – Teeth Like God's Shoeshine Lyrics

If you go watch the modest mouse documentary about the lonesome crowded west, this song mill make so much sense. Teeth like god's shoeshine sort of represents the album as a whole, mainly in the lyrics. It really comes down to Issac's view on the dehumanization of America, especially in the west.
So let's all have another orange julius, while we watch corporate america turn our once-pristine land...to shit. |

| City and Colour – What Makes a Man? Lyrics

No doubt, one of my favorites of C&C. I love the all around sound of the song, like the haunting reverb and the bone chilling melancholy feel. It really humbles a man and puts his/her life into perspective.
For me, this song represents the most primitive feelings a man holds in his gut like why are we on this earth in the first place and what makes a man feel these kinds of deep wrenching emotions ? Just these basic questions that an average person wouldn't think about daily. The most simple questions, like 'what makes a man want to break a heart?' All these troubling questions..and it seems as though dallas might know the answers.
This masterpiece of a song makes me want to shrivel up inside and succumb to the wind of a cool autumn night. It's just so..heart wrenching, but in a good way. I try not to look to far into the meaning of it, I just know that it's touching and tear-jerking, and I would say it's the best when you're in a funk. |

| As Cities Burn – Contact Lyrics

For those of you that don't know, this song coincides with timothy in a huge way. This isn't exactly cody's thoughts on God and soforth, but it was Timothy's thoughts on God. He was losing a lot of faith and he took his own life later on down the road..in which the song timothy is more directed to. But just think about the contrast between how Cody talks about faith in Contact, and then in Timothy.. |

This song in my opinion, is showing the contrast between heaven and hell. Imagine yourself on a carriage being slowly pulled through a strange dark smokey land going by disturbing images and creatures who suffer and hurt. The experience becomes too intense and terrifying so you close your eyes but you find your asscending into heaven, and for all the fear and terror that was struck into you previosusly is now redeemed by this Godly music. It restores the balance and you restfully subside there for the comfort it provides. |
