I don't know if James smoked cigarettes at all, but I definitely get vibes of this being about trying to quit smoking. As some people have said, it could be about addiction in general, but the following lines scream out the feelings of trying to quit smoking: Chase the rabbit, fetch the stick She rolls me over, 'till I'm sick She deals in habits, deals in pain I run away, but I'm back again Oooh, then she holds my hand And I lie to get a smile And she squeezes tighter I still lie to get a smile The words "stick", "rolls", "habits", and "I run away but I'm back again" are just all too familiar with struggling to tell yourself you don't need tobacco when your body is telling you otherwise. |

You're my only entrance // I'm just looking for an exit from my real life - I feel this means the person in your life is exactly what you need to grow/improve as a person, but thoughts from your younger/past self come back to haunt and cause havoc sometimes. You're joined at the hip with someone you truly love and can't imagine being without them but admit you need space, even though you can't take your mind off them when apart. - Me time is my saving grace // While I'm just looking for your face amongst the crowd |
