Originally, I thought this song was about a girlfriend/spouse, but now, after looking more closely at the video, I think that it's about his mother. Good call!

Nice try, but you're completely off-base on some accounts. Excerpts such as, "They crawl in like a cockroach / Leaving babies in my bed" , "Dropping little reels of tape / To remind me that I'm alone" and "Playing movies in my head / That make a porno feel like home" simply refers to painful memories of his past relationship that keep playing over and over in his head to the point of paranoia. The "cure' to diverting his mind from this paranoia may be masturbation, but not in the same way that you describe. I could go on, but I simply don't have the time to spell out everything wrong with your analysis.
Quite simply, as other commenters have mentioned, he simply wants to distance himself from a relationship, whether that be with a girlfriend or his mother, that he has tainted himself. |
