Nope, just you. No but in all seriousness, I think people dislike Trevor's highs because he doesn't really scream, he kind of shrieks. It's a matter of preference thing.

The Human Abstract – Vela, Together We Await the Storm Lyrics 13 years ago
Alrighty here it goes phrase by phrase *Paranthesis are me interpreting a certain portion

Synopsis: I feel the song is about the Vela Incident on September 22, 1979, which is a "double-flash" of light recorded in the South Atlantic by Vela satellite 6911, that was beleived to be an unsanctioned nuclear test. Therefore I believe it is The Human Abstract expressing their stand on atomic warfare and nuclear material engineering.

>A story without a name. a desert journey that we became.
(A desert journey seems futile due to it's hazardous nature)
>Another test of our power overcoming on a black day.
(Constant competition for having the "bigger better" bomb)
>Appalling how they're running for the honor like a campaign.
(Amazed at the loss of humanity, where we are racing to see who can inflict the most self wounds)
>To be the leaders of a Phony dead scene in a magazine.
(notice the capitalization of Phony, which I believe is a nod at J.D. Salinger's popular novel "The Catcher in the Rye" where the main character [Holden Caulfield] popularly coins the term "phonies" and even in the book Holden comments on Atomic warfare--"Anyway, I'm sort of glad they've got the atomic bomb invented. If there's ever another war, I'm going to sit right the hell on top of it. I'll volunteer for it, I swear to God I will." ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 18-- Showing society's obsession with WMD's)

>I always figured there was something more.

>Gone, so many friends and lovers
(Despite maybe not being him(the singers) immediate friends or lovers he is pointing out that those lost to nuclear activity already had friends and lovers just as everyone else does)
>So far, nothing to show in turn
(What gain/progress [in terms of furthering humanity] have we made thus far in nuclear activity)

>They'll take it all back, all those empty words.
(Expressing his anger where his wishes to summon "them" for reprimand where they will be begging to retract what they've done and admit their empty promises)
>I'll show the dregs where all their slander has led.
>If it takes my whole life, for all the tears that i have shed they'll take it back, I'm making a pact.
(Willing to show that he WILL NOT step down from attempting to put this all to a stop, he will stand firm in his ground)
>They'll take it back, I'm making a promise.
>I'm eager to the task, exposing all who wear a mask. (Wanting to "expose" officials and so on that they are corrupt enought to aid in nuclear engineering just to flex their guns to others.)

>It must be done.

>The storm yet to come binds us as one. through it all, lonliness and adversity, failure and injustices only guide us on our way. (All this activity in the nuclear field [specifically the Vela Incident] will spark a "storm"/war/aftermath of the events leading up to this point)
>So pry, you won't be finding a faker, nor will an opportune moment arise.

>Gone, so many friends and lovers
>So far, nothing to show in turn

>Gone, so many friends and lovers
