Seems like a metaphor about an outcast person, or people of today in general - isolated and distrustful of others. Perhaps the one speaking in the song is deliberately isolated because the world around him is like that and he maybe uses the rope and the machine as means of keeping him self further away from others, who ever they might be - cold and distrustful.... |

I think Katatonia refers here to the rise of a new world order, it wouldn't be uncommon for them since they have done it before, i think that, if you think about it - every single word in this songs literally explains how the iron grip of the ever strong totalitarian system is on the rise, and in the end - it will overtake everything on earth, and i must say - with where the world is going today - it is not far from the truth... I don't know, but the song really sends me that message... |
