@[tgwitty:5467] I'm pretty positive it's particle-wave duality because it makes the most sense. He sings about how everything is "half apart" or just like particle-wave duality exhibits both wave and particle are both exhibited in elementary particles. As Einstein said: "It seems as though we must use sometimes the one theory and sometimes the other, while at times we may use either. We are faced with a new kind of difficulty. We have two contradictory pictures of reality; separately neither of them fully explains the phenomena of light, but together they do". Kevin Barnes is clearly conflicted in his emotional state of mind which leads his heart to become "fractious" out of his frustration with this conflict within himself. Love has split him in half and he can't reconcile these two opposing sides (waves and particles). |

I haven't read many comments on this, but I agree that this is not about any lazy person. I think that it is about someone who is unconscious to the world as a whole and all the beautiful things that expanding your perceptions can bring. In short, I think it's about ignorance and how some people see it as bliss.
What I thought was really fun about this song was that at about 2:03, the backwards guitar is playing at the end of the chorus and then you can hear one of them yawn. When I heard this for the first time I yawned after I heard it. I think that the Beatles were trying to make the listener yawn. |
