I really have to agree with frider while adding a bit of my interpretation. I feel like this song is a tale of an ordinary couple who move in together and become afraid of the outside world. I know so many couples who become comfortable with the confines of their home that they begin to be afraid of the outside world. And in doing so, many of their beliefs, passions, and asperations they had in their youth somehow become lost (for example the lyric "everything we did believe Is diving, diving, diving, diving off the balcony"), as time goes by they lose more of their uniqueness to the 'necessary' conformities associated with becoming adults. Perhaps this is a sign to young people to let love transform you into the person you dreamed of becoming, rather than allowing one another to become another mindless couple that merely contributes to the economy. Travel, socialize, try new things, and always stay fresh. Also never lose your dinosaur (Step Brothers reference) |
