I always felt this song was about nuclear weaponry. Just because of the song's one line. What else would kill all the rainbows, and all of the species (which is almost every living thing)?
And the ending of the song sounds like the blast of the explosion wiping out the feed of the music. The way the song gets really loud and full of static and then just cuts abruptly. |

The song is apparently about drug culture in Hollywood. The whole "tie my hands up to a chair" part of the lyrics is meant to express the uncaring attitude people have about self-destructive habits. Like they're doing all of these drugs and alcohol, thinking it's all great, but they can't even stand, hence the whole "tying hands up to a chair." |
