| What seems to be happening is the female has the opportunity to move on to bigger and better things, not just from a relationship standpoint. Small, lonely Montana town, and she's getting out. It seems as though the narrator is afraid to leave, potentially because he knows that he cannot make it outside of this town. The monsters dancing to the music are the feelings and knowledge of what is inevitably about to happen. He leaves her house, looks one back time, and that's when it hits him. He's never going anywhere, and she might as well be leaving in a spaceship. | |
