This song is the same reason I have such a disconnect with a lot of people. It's actually pretty straight forward; He denies/masks how he really feels. Translate: - sometimes = all the time - never = maybe examples: - (Sometimes I feel alone) = (I always feel alone) - (I feel like letting go, maybe not) = (I never feel like letting go) - (sometimes I think I'm scared) = (I feel scared all the time) |

Here are my thoughts on what the writer means. "I've eaten the sun so my tongue Has been burned of the taste" - He's overindulged in the sun (heroin,) which has burned his taste (senses.) Now everything he experiences does not compare to the sun. - Heroin has burned his taste of everything, and now nothing else can even compare to the happiness that heroin gives him. He knows this is all his fault, which is why his next line is, "I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth." He'd like to break free of what he's going through, but he can't. "I'd like to fly, but my wings have been so denied." |
