| Not much of a song meaning but more of a background, a young fan sent them a letter before he committed suicide so the band paid tribute to him and others who have been lost to suicide. I can't count the times ive sat alone listening to this song when i was younger. It helps to have something like music to latch on to. | |

This being my favorite song of all time seeing how i interpret it. ill try to explain how i think of this song. Lets start with the opening verse. I wanna love, I wanna leave I want you to love me, I want you to leave me (i figure this mean the relationship is strained and love is still present but in order to make the other feel happy he believes that she should leave him.) I want to stand where I can see (he wishes to be able to make everything clear) I'm watching you love me, I'm watching you leavin' me now (now they broke up and the feelings are still there but she is fading away from him.) But I wish I could be somebody else (he wishes he wasn't who he is with all this pressure and stress on him.) I wish I could see you in myself (he now wants her to be him, to be part of him, he misses her and wants to be able to see and experience the happy past again.) I wish there was something inside me to keep you beside me (self explanatory) And say what you really feel You know I need something that's real (he want reassurance that it wasn't fake, he also wants her to confess on whats been filling up her mind. He wants it all on the table.) I wish there was something inside me to keep you beside me I wanna know if I could be Someone to turn to that could never hurt you (He wants to be everything good for her, also wants to believe that he is able to although he may think that he is unable to make her happy.) But I know what you think of me (again, he wants everything to be clear on the table.) Yeah, you had a breakthrough and now I'm just bad news for you (she now dislikes him for some reason. a thought passed her head and caused her to show anger towards him.) I should've told you everything. (now he regrets not telling her how he left when he had the chance. regrets not being able to open up to her.) I never gave you anything. (He believes he was a lost cause. not worth her time, thus he never gave her anything worth wild in his opinion.) I am probably wrong but thats how the song speaks to me. It always reminds me of something and this song soothes me. |
