| In my opinion he is talking about how he had self-doubt ( “the boat we thought sank“) and creative crisis (“a high mutiny submerged down and under“), but that he is back now and that he can still “spit roses“ - to make beautiful music and lyrics. The captian is sea - he means the God ( “he blurts karma, the ginger all things, to all men he's kind“ etc.), “the ship all himself the Rose spitter the name“ - this is Peter, “I'm back at the task, the task, that I love most“ - and we know what he loves and does best and we thank Peter for sharing it with us. So maybe I'm wrong but that's the freedom of interpretation :) | |
