The Psychedelic Furs – Pretty in Pink Lyrics 11 years ago
Hmmmm, listening to it, I thought it was about a girl who died. As in, the narrator is conversing with her ghost. In life, she'd been popular but after she passed away, people wanted to take advantage of her memory in a way ("the one who insists he was the / First in the line is the / Last to remember her name") .

"All of her lovers all / Talk of her notes and the / Flowers that they never sent" seems like her exes at her funeral conversing about the things they shouldn't have done, but the narrator bitterly knows it's too late for that.

"Caroline talks to you / Softly sometimes, she says, / "I love you" and "Too much"" seems like her ghost futilely trying to speak with someone and only the narrator can hear her

"She doesn't have anything / You want to steal / Well, nothing you can touch" seems like, well, you can't really take anything from a dead girl except immaterial things, like her ability to cross over peacefully

"The traffic is waiting outside / She hands you this coat / She give you her clothes /
These cars collide" seems like a metaphor-within-a-metaphor for her death itself, a car crash presumably

"Pretty in pink, isn't she?" just seems like a well, she's beautiful in her casket wearing pink, ha........

I think my interpretation is far too literal, haha.
