Thats a nice try and interpreting the song.... but actually it's about the singer of the band dropping out of college to go on tour....and he wrote this about his relationship with his parents at the time. They were very worried he was going to ruin his life and he was doing the wrong thing... THIS is definatly what it means... because i heard it from the man himself. great song. If i didnt know, i prolly wouldve said the same thing as pooleyacht... but it's about his parents and him trying to let them know he'll be ok. :) |

okay i think this is what happened... Jesse, the singer of brand new had a girlfriend... he and john the guitarist from TBS were best friends, and they were at a party. John and Jesse's girlfriend started talking.... John was really drunk, and he ended up kissing and doing whatever else with jesse's girlfriend. So jesse wrote the song seventy times seven, and as you can see he was VERY pissed, understandably so. Thats so fucked up of John and of his girlfriend, who im assuming is either a slut, or is just heartless.... or both. in response to this song, "there's no 'i' in team" was written by TBS. Since then theyve become best friends again. not only that, but i saw them last night...... and each of them played thier song about each other last and before brand new played seventy times seven he was like "this songs called theres no i in team" and john played guitar and sang along......and jesse was like "this is my best friend in the whole world", and for taking back sundays last song they called it seventy times seven and jesse came out and sang along. It was cute :-) does that explain it? |

This is funny and i swear its true..... the girl these songs are about (seventy times seven + theres no i in team) is 17 years old! Which wouldnt matter at all.. except jesse is 25!!!!! c'mon now..... i mean he's the singer of a big band and he can probably get a ton of girls, HIS OWN AGE! Its one thing if this girl was really special... but if she'd do this then apparently shes nothing short of a slut. Actually... most of the Taking back sunday album is about her too. the song "you're so last summer"... yeah. Welllllll whatever. i was kindof disappointed when i heard, because i love taking back sunday, and brand new is good too, ohhh well |
