- he is constantly looking for her and "them" in his other relationships, all in vain, an illusion, no other can replace her. It's a weight off my mind I could trust you, you could tell me it's fine I could sew you a stitch and save nine Ayla - He dreams of a way to fix the past things between them. If only he could go back and undo hurting her first ("make one stitch"), he'd save himself the 9 times pain she caused him when she left. The wait is over, under halcyon skies The wait is over, for an innocent life - in his fantasies they get back together and everything, the pain, the wait, is over. |

There is no doubt this song is about someone who's tormented by a bad breakup or loss of his loved-one. I am thinking this is the story of a guy rather than a girl, but it can go both ways, of course. Aimless am I Listless I'm the blunt of the knife Drifting to the corners of life Ayla - He is experiencing loss of direction and meaning of his own life. His personal life goes on, but he does not enjoy it, and sees himself as a spectator rather than participant. He'd rather be somewhere else, sometimes else, probably back with her. And we wait for love In the shape of us But the state of us - he is constantly looking for her |
