| Dan Croll – From Nowhere Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song gives me moments of pure awesomeness and great sadness. The music itself is just awesome, but the lyrics is saddening what he's dealing with. It's like he knows he's not doing all he should, but that's because he's trapped in her eyes. | |
| RA – Don't Turn Away Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
Under the sun I stand Over the wings of fallen angels. I can't believe the things you show me. In my dreams I have you next to me. Forever gone is love. Out of control, I fall in trenches. And if you leave me empty, How will I design the world I need? In your eyes you see it done: Colors drain away like water. Distance all but disappeared, And nothing can be done. Don't; don't turn away. Don't let it take you over. You cannot give in. Don't let it take you over now. And in your eyes I catch A tiny glimpse of heaven calling. You try to stay in touch, but can you end what has no real beginning. In your eyes you see it done: Colors drained away like water. Distance all but disappeared, And nothing can be done. Don't; don't turn away. Don't let it take you over. You cannot give in. Don't let it take you over now. And I walk away And leave you right where you stand I'll never regret all that I said to you But you never turned away You never turned away. You never turned away. You never turned away. You never turned away. Don't; don't turn away. Don't let it take you over. You cannot give in. Don't let it take you over. Don't; don't turn away. Don't let it take you over. You cannot give in. Don't let it take you over now. |

| Lostprophets – To Hell We Ride Lyrics | 11 years ago |

"Ride! Ride! Ride! Now it's time to Everything feels tempting When you don't know what to be I often wonder how you feel When you're lying next to me It's too early It's time to" My favorite part of the whole song, I've asked this question many times in my life, rarely did I get a bad answer. |

I'm afraid to say she never made it home Couldn't keep her head on "She was so close I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home (Couldn't keep her head on) Afraid to say she never made it home" My favorite part of the song..I think "Never made it home" means She didn't stay with the relationship and eventually get married to him. You could say suicide, but I think it was something more. I also sense betrayal. |

"There goes the sun! Just trying to find your way anywhere But you've come to find you're alone It's getting dark and you've lost your way I haven't let you go as long as you know that I'm losing what's left of my dignity But I'll fight till the end for her heart I'll never give up for what's possibly For better or worse this love must be cursed You just try to keep your head down But you come to find that trust has come and gone Everyone out there is listening But you don't care at all and you're probably glad to know I'm losing what's left of my dignity But I'll fight till the end for her heart I'll never give up for what's possibly For better or worse this love must be cursed You already let it pass through your lips You can't take it back now (It's already out) You already let it pass through your lips Can't take it back (It's already out) You already let it pass through your lips You can't take it back now (It's already out) You already let it pass through your lips You can't take it back now I'm losing what's left of my dignity But I'll fight till the end for her heart I'll never give up for what's possibly For better or worse this love must be cursed I'm holding on to her (This love must be cursed) I'm holding on to her (This love must be cursed) I'm holding on I'm afraid to say she never made it home Couldn't keep her head on She was so close I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home I'm afraid to say she never made it home (Couldn't keep her head on) Afraid to say she never made it home |

| From First to Last – I Once Was Lost, But Now Am Profound Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
I found this song about this time last year and I was at the crossroads of my faith. I didn't know where I wanted to go, but I knew I needed to change. I love the first verse of this song because I lied to so many people by saying I was fine but inside I was dying. My heart wasn't right with my soul, I had 2 different loves with a similar glow. Since then, I've been sober since October, and I'm a leader at my church. "What a mess I've become, it's not just me, It's my whole generation, generation, generation!" |

| Audioslave – Revelations Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I know this song is sarcastic and more about highly religious leaders who are full of themselves. I've always looked at it differently. "You know what to do, you know what I did Since you know everything just clue me in I am such a wreck, I am such a mess I know what I know, why don't you fill in the rest?" I think it's about someone asking God to "Fill in" the missing pieces of what he doesn't know yet. He admits that he needs help fixing himself. "I will bring you down, I will make it bad While you're feelin' proud, why don't you help me?" If he doesn't fix what he's done before, this path of destruction will lead to a negative outcome. He thinks God is too busy with other things to fix him. "Such a shame that I wouldn't know by now (I wouldn't know by now) Your revelations Cut me in, I don't wanna live without (Don't wanna live without) Your revelations" He's ashamed that he's lived this long without knowing God's revelations and how he feels he needs them to fix his problems. "You know what to say, you know what I said You know what I dream sleeping in my bed You hold all the keys, you know all the roads" He's saying God knows his past and how to fix it. He's telling God, you know what best, please choose which path is best for me. "I'm spinnin' 'round, I will make you ill Since I'm so broken down, why don't you fix me?" If you jump on my back without fixing me, you're gonna be sick. Since God has shown him just how messed up he is, he's pleading for God to fix him. "I am haunted when I am sleeping Try to give without receiving It's in the applebite (It's in the applebite) It's in the days and nights (It's in the days and nights) In the afterlife we'll reap" He's having flashbacks of what he did in his past. "It's in the applebite and the days and nights." refers to the sins he committed and all he evidence against him. "In the afterlife we'll reap." Refers to what will happen after God heals him and gives him a whole new future. This song also seems like it's about someone wait for God to help him. I've felt like this before, and I still do. God has worked miracles in my life. He can work Miracles in yours as well if you accept him in your life. But you have to be patient for him to work on you for you. P.S. lose your pride, it will only hold you down. |

| Audioslave – Revelations Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is awesome, but I can't stand anything else from Audioslave. Audioslave isn't even Chris Cornell's best band. Sound Garden will always be his best band no matter what. | |
| Protest the Hero – Heretics & Killers Lyrics | 12 years ago |

While my faith is in ruins, my duty breathes strong. I'm a parrot in a cage saying prayers to belong textbook of my crying, lying, dying history textbook of my crying, lying, dying history textbook of my crying, CRYING, textbook of my lying, LYING, textbook of my dying, DYING; textbook of my history. I felt this way for a year and a half. I served at my church proudly but I never felt as though I belonged. I felt "a parrot in a cage saying prayers to belong" |

| Finger Eleven – One Thing Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| So I take it as though you have had the perfect life. Never lost a family member or more? Never lost a love interest while away on Spring Break? Never lost a job that you truly enjoyed doing? Never been left for dead? How dare you say such things. Some of us have lost fathers, I lost my mother to drugs when I wasn't even in high school yet. I went on Spring Break and a really close friend of mine was thrown out of an SUV. I lost a friend every spring break when I was in high school. Then it happened to me. I was left to die on hospital bed when the one parent I still had turned his back on me. I've been in recovery ever since. I'm happy you haven't had to live through the sadness I've had to endure everyday just wishing this could end. 'Cause I'm so tired of the pain. I wouldn't wish my misfortune on my worse enemy, but have compassion for those who have lost everything. We're not trying to find a deeper meaning, we're showing how it relates to our lives. This site is called "Songmeanings" for a reason. I don't even care that you are a troller, If you are crying, which i doubt, everyone else has felt that a 1,000 times worse. | |
| Evans Blue – Possession (Sarah McLachlan cover) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I was shocked to hear this was a cover. I listened to the original but I can't decide which version I like more. Sarah McLaughlin wrote an incredible song and Evans Blue did one hell of a job covering this song. I love it when bands do covers instead of remakes. Respect the artists people. | |
| Jamie's Elsewhere – The Mapmaker Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
The band stated that the song, and the entire album for that matter, was about a dream of a life of a sailor in the late 1400's early 1500's traveling to what is today America. "Listen, to the sound The sound of an angry ocean below And, look above The skies open up The waves begin to groan" Describing what it's like to be on a ship in hostile seas. "If you aren't so easily swayed I'll make my peace And sink beneath the waves Until it all fades away to hues And shades of blues and grays" If you don't believe me or come with me, Let me say goodbye right now. "In this cold Frigid and oh so lonely I'm slowly moving toward The center of a hostile world Unexplored and in need of More men like me to uncover What lies at its ends" This describes the settlers lives in the beginning of the colonies. Cold, frigid and lonely new world. Cold, frigid, describing the weather and conditions, Lonely, missing everyone and everything he once knew. As he explores this new, undiscovered world, he finds violent warriors, beasts and animals. In need of more men like him, he believes they are outnumbered, and more men can cover more ground. "All I ever needed was one more day I feel so disconnected So strangely warm So strangely calm" With every day he gets closer to something he desires "I fell so disconnected" He and his fellow explorers are all alone and have no way of returning to Europe. So strangely warm So strangely calm He is warmed in the fact there is no other place he would rather be. Calm in the fact that he can start a new life again. These are my interpretations. let me know what you all think. |

I'm leavin' the same way I came in Looking forward but I can't see straight It's just like I know where I'm going It's just like me to fool myself (I'm right here, bitch) I'm buried by the words of a liar! (I'm right here, bitch) But I'm alive and I'm still breathin' The day becomes so haunting (You didn't say enough i want myself back) My mind plays it over and over Slow motion But we're moving faster, moving faster So much further Let's not lose control (Light a match just to watch it burn) Struck (Light a match just to watch you burn) Where are you goin'? How far? Where are you goin'? (Let's give them HELL!) The day becomes so haunting (You didn't say enough i want myself back) My mind plays it over and over Slow motion But we're moving faster, moving faster So much further Let's not lose control (I'll bite the bullet) (Just to save myself) (Oh!) (Oh no, this ship is quickly sinking) (We gotta take control, gotta take control) (Oh no, this ship is quickly sinking) (We gotta take control, gotta take control) Slow motion Now we're moving faster, moving faster So much further Now we're moving faster (I'll bite the bullet) |

| Alexisonfire – This Could Be Anywhere In The World Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
[George:] This town has its claws buried in my neck This town, it takes lives, without mercy, without hate (The city in which I live in is metaphorically attached to my DNA. There's no escape. This place destroys or ends lives not caring who the damage is inflicted upon. nothing's personal.) [Dallas:] The streets are in distress The sun suffocates behind darkened skies (As we suffer in these streets, the "sun" tries to shed light on why this happens but the "clouds" make it impossible.) [George:] The grass is growing on top of my feet I'm sinking, won't be long, before I'm too deep to run (grass grows from neglect, I'm overwhelmed by rising water to the point of being trapped.) [Dallas:] The line up seems endless Underneath the salvation signs. (The line for supplies seem to not end, as we wait for help.) [George:] We are the dead ones, we are the lost cause We are the bend before the break. Our steps seal our fate. (We are forgotten, we are the ones who are unreachable, we will endure until the end, our steps will set us up for success or failure.) [Chorus:] Because this city, this city is haunted By ghosts (ghosts) from broken homes (homes) Because this city, this city is haunted And there's no hope (hope) left for these souls (souls). (This city has something lingering and lurking, from people who have lived through the worst, either natural devastation or domestic family tragedies, we feel there's no one to save our souls from our impending doom.) [George:] Every step I take I leave a small piece Of myself behind. Soon there will be nothing left. (Leaving clues for someone to find us, A foot print, the prints will end sometime.) [Dallas:] The cracks in the pavement, Match the cracks in their weathered skin (The poor conditions they live in leave scars upon them.) [George:] The sky's a brick wall The ground's a juggernaut Each day they get a bit closer Between them, I am caught. (The sky seems unreachable and the ground is unbreakable) [Dallas:] I stare in amazement, I can't believe this is where I live. (He looks in horror, disbelief, sadness and a strange sense of honor of being here) [George:] Every breath I take I feel my lungs seal This breeze feels more like shards of glass I'm more scars than skin (With every breath breathing becomes difficult, The breeze is full of skin piercing debris and he realizes he is cover with cuts.) [Chorus:] Because this city, this city is haunted By ghosts (ghosts) from broken homes (homes) Because this city, this city is haunted And there's no hope (hope) left for these souls (souls). [George:] Our steps seal fate, our steps seal fate. (What we do will determine who we are) This is our celebration Come join the lost souls [x2] (Let's celebrate what we have, come join us and help us through this) [Dallas:] This city, this city is haunted. (There's something here) [George:] Oh! Walk with us. Oh! Down. Walk with us. (The help finally arrives to save some of them, if you hear them.) [Chorus:] This city, this city is haunted By ghosts (ghosts) from broken homes (homes) Because this city, this city is haunted And there's no hope (hope) left for these souls (souls). When i first heard this song in early 2006 I immediately thought of New Orleans and all of Louisiana. Then as I started to dissect the lyrics, it started to resemble of a city with poverty, famine and no hope for survival. Of course, I started seeing similarities in these lyrics in which i saw in my life. My mother left me when I was 9, harsh family situations and no hope for a future. I live in a city filled with divorced children, single parents and poverty. yet I love my city, without these hardships, I couldn't be the man I am today. I hoped these lyrics helped and I hope you enjoyed. |
