I this song is one of the biggest reasons people are scared of commitment. You can be so in love with someone and it can be over in a blink of a flash. This exact experience happened to me. It seems to be about an engaged couple that were so in love and the woman calls it off because she just doesn't feel the same anymore. It makes me worried to ever get married in general. A girl I was with for four years that I thought I was going to marry told me she wanted to take a break... Within a week or two, we were done... Just like that. |

That sounds right to me SaraJean... But I also kind of took it from another angle. Even though Ace Enders is married and your meaning makes complete sense... I originally thought the song could mean that he's drank his night away because he's depressed that he's missing someone he loved, but is no longer with. And when she grows old, (maybe she'll fall into dementia) at least the stain on her carpet, which could be a metaphor altogether, is that she will never forget him even though they're not together. |
