| Kenny Rogers – Twenty Years Ago Lyrics

My son and his high school friends recorded video tapes throughout their four years. After graduation, one of the boys edited this song onto the composite tape. After the first play through, we were all in tears. It's even more emotional now that two decades have passed... Thank you Mr, Kenny Rogers and Messrs. Tyler, Newton, Noble and Spriggs. |

Saw an Albion truck (lorry!) at the Carlisle, PA car show one year. It, however, was a Chieftain, not a Reiver. Took a photo which has disappeared. This was prior to cell cameras, darn it. |

| Mark Knopfler – Silvertown Blues Lyrics
| 13 years ago
|
I always thought this song was about Newcastle and the North (of England) during the hard times in the Thatcher years. That said, if one listens to Telegraph Road, Silvertown Blues, and then 5:15 A.M., it almost seems like a trilogy - a biography of a town from founding to bad times to resurgence with the coming of night clubs and casinos.
This song also reminds me of my hometown, Pittsburgh, and the sad rust-belt town where my son lives, Johnstown, PA. |
