| Manchester Orchestra – I Was A Lid Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| this song is connected with I can feel a hot one they are both about his relationship with god and his wife for the first part of the song and how being on tour was stressing both of his loves. And the second half is the dream he had where he crashed to tour van driving with his wife and she was pregnant and he found satisfaction at new life beginning when another ends. | |

again as seen in the comment directly bellow somebody tries to make it about a relationship. Andy Hull is an extremely religious man from a religious family who questioned it growing up and struggled with his faith until his most recent years when he has learned to come to and accept god and the faith he has. I swear I tried again You’re never visible on the weekdays When I need you to Do what you can’t afford to do You better watch your tone You’re not invincible You know I’ll do what I have to do To stop the sound coming from you Cause the truth is You’re probably not as bad As I make you out to be To the boys and the girls That will listen closely know I’m the one that is sorry You can write the coolest songs I was wrong, I was wrong Andy growing up trying to have satisfactions is his faith for god he was to material and needed proof but deep down he knows that its not all sham even though to his peers he may have spoken as if Christianity was a sham. This isn’t working out You’re only logical on Sundays When you can follow through Exactly what I told you to do Please just pick up the phone Am I invisible? Now you know I didn’t mean a thing When I said you could barely sing Cause the truth is You’re probably not as bad As I thought that you were being To the boys and myself We’re just tired of listening I’m the one that is sorry Help me write the coolest songs I was wrong, I was wrong continuing to struggle with his faith lines like please pick up the phone he is begging for god to answer his prayers now pursuing music he wants god to help him make his life he prays to be for gods help to write good songs the i was wrong lines at the end are now in hindsight he was wrong to think of god as so material Cause the truth Is that no one Truly knows What the hell it is you’re doing When they ask are you dead Or are you just sleeping? I am the one that is happy I don’t like your shitty songs You were wrong You were wrong Now later in life and successful Andy has learned a valuable number of lessons the biggest that his faith is enough the reality is that none of us really know or may never know he figures out that he is the one that has the power as a person already given to him by god to be the person he wants to be and answer his own prayers this verse is also an attack on other religious bands/songs/Christians that are that are materialistic about god and their relationship with him 'you were wrong' 'i was wrong' andy is no longer wrong. P.S I'm not religious its just self explanatory. |

Seriously everyone; every single song on this website has clueless people saying this song is about a break up, not every song ever made is about a break up you overly dramatic teenagers. Most of Andy Hull's lyrics aren't about relationship break ups most are about his relationship with god or his close friends/family and touring this song how ever is a bit different very metaphorical but the meaning was there the guy talking about war was the closest. The song is written in first person from the planet Earth, the line everyones trying to quote your phrase if some ones got the answers id rather think theres nothing to be found etc is about how in society we all turn a blind eye to how we destroy the earth we don't want to look for problems because we're to consumed by the pursuit of material happiness at the expense of mother nature. If you knew I was dying would it change you is self explanatory obviously would we actually change as whole if every single one of us was aware of how dire our dilemma is? Andy knows that the answer is no and thus it used almost sarcastically. 'don't be cautious when I'm cautiously approaching on the other side' is the idea that we are not slowing down or being cautious with our mass consumption even though the earth is approaching the end when it is no longer sustainable for us we take no care in what we do and how we do it we just do it because everybody does it that's what this song is about. Clue up its not omg you broke my heart but now I'm happy we don't fuck. |
