Not complicated. The singer is a horny musician (looking to "loosen (his) load" with many women on his mind. He's thinking about women but away from those women. He's telling us he already has a whole bunch of girlfriends but he wants the girl who slowed down to not think too much about it because he's not sticking around either way ("we will never be here again.") He's looking for a "lover that won't blow his cover" (meaning mess things up with his other seven girlfriends that he already has complicated relationships with. He's telling her to relax and not say maybe. "Open up, I'm climbing in" he says. That's it. He's a sleazy musician looking for casual sex with no repercussions and he's not really taking no for an answer. He's pretending that he actually needs sex as a way of adding pressure to the woman ("I gotta know that your sweet love is going to save me") and then telling her not to think about it too much about it. As a product of the 70's it fits. Through the lens of today, it's kind of gross. He's telling her he is not sticking around, already involved with too many women, and yet, don't think about it, don't say maybe, he's climbing in because he craves sexual release. |
