To me, it's about a guy who likes someone that he thinks doesn't completely like him. Possibly the person is attractive and has a great personality, which means lots of other guys want the person. Possibly the person is dating someone else, but the singer thinks there is a spark between them anyway... due to the "you'll choose him anyway" line. Most of the song, he's imagining them together, and he's hoping that the person just takes a chance on him. There's also an underlying tone of the singer thinking he's not good enough... "my beauty is black." |
