Hi people, Well this is a fantastic song and although I agree with a lot of what alicetrus said, on some points my thoughts are slightly different; - Eagle in the dark - Feathers in the pages I believe he's referring to a newborn human in the first sentence, with so much potential but being drilled in a bad way by parents, teachers, society etc. The second sentence then, feathers in the pages, seems to me is about the fact some people start to realise when they get older, they can use this potential to do greater things than 'average' people who never think about the real questions of life. - Monkeys in my heart - Who rattle in their cages (I think these are the right lyrics) Then is about being that sensitive, hence needing people on the same level in life, and when you can't seem to find them you feel really alone and stuck with all your emotions inside, which just make you want to scream at some points. - Found a way to blue - Another ghost to follow - Who said it's only up to you - It's the hardest pill to swallow In contradiction to others I think 'blue' is meaning something very positive. Like something you want to do or reach in life. But you must actually do and reach that goal yourself, which can be very hard if you're usually overcome by emotions. 2nd part is just a follow-up of those feelings and pretty self-explanatory imo, with... - One foot in the grave - One foot in the shower ...meaning you are thrown back and forth between hopelessness at some points and euforia and fresh starts at other points. And in the last 4 lines he makes the same point as described above I think. Feeling not strong enough to cope with things but also meaning it a bit sarcasticly, like he doesn't want to be part of the hustling, money-owning business that this planet has fell into. - Could learn to play the game - Could learn to run the hustle - If I only had the brains - The money, or the muscle |

Wow, I can't believe nobody has commented any thoughts about what is for me the most calming and peaceful song I've ever heard. And about the lyrics, I think it all has something to do with what I just said; us humans should stop hurting each other, stop keeping secrets for one another, and start using our brains more (and maybe what we need is a new beginning). The song is just so, so peaceful :) I especially like the start: "Worn from walking this far So worn from talking this much And what we found and what we've seen As the road curves down And the lights come up to meet us Silent for the evening We enter this town Like new born creatures Those I know I see anew And the space between us is reduced For I am human And you are human too" |

My first post. Obviously a song about heartbreaking. But not just any song; this one brilliantly translates the feeling of a Real heartbreak. I agree with Soccergirl2008, yummyloveeful, kotatsu ofcourse, and a few more. And just for the record; when I say it's not always the girl who gets left behind I'm speaking out of experience.. Anywayz, even though it's amazingly sad, one of my most favorite songs ever. |
