I think this song is about fighting your inner demons. Those of us that have dealt with depression or any other mentally disabling disorder and can't seem to make it go away can relate to these lyrics on a terribly painful level. |

I know this song is truly about his mother and losing her to cancer, but I also see it as a form of self discovery as a woman. I went through this stage in my life, and this song very much describes how I feel and how my ex lover might view my self discovery. Even down to the line "Did Venus blow your mind, was it everything you wanted to find?" I can interpret as, being bisexual, experimentation with the opposite sex but never being able to explore it due to being in a relationship. |
