I think he's just upset that his idol died. His thoughts "keep leading back to him". Geoff is listening to Ian's music ("reciting every line") and thinking about what it meant to him. It is filled with death and funeral symbols ("march in the procession") "Heart and Soul" is a song by Joy Division about mortality so he's referencing that.. Also, what Milehighmark said about foreshadowing is really interesting. |

In Pittsburgh, PA they played this song and right before he said: "This song is about women's rights!" Though I do agree it can be about anyone who is treated unfairly and deals with adversity |
