I love the line: "I hope you got all my letters, signed The Great Depression." GA always has a way of bringing a line at the beginning back to completion at the end. The Great Depression line also reminds of the song of the same name by Dave Hause (who was the lead singer of The Loves Ones that GA toured with). |

Instead of "Circus," wouldn't a "Carousel" make more sense?? I don't understand how you can his circus for a psycho. Worst song on the album. |

The line "Maybe a thief stole your heart" reminds me of Gaslight Anthem's "Here's Looking At You, Kid" where Brian sings "That a thief stole my heart." There seems to be some other lines in the album similar to Gaslight Anthem and it is a nostalgic album like GA albums tend to be. Might be the Bruce Sprinsteen influence, though, that causes the overlap. |
