Nah, "Christian punk" is an oxymoron. Punk is a rejection of the social structures that have been put in place by those in power. Religion (particularly the three big monotheistic groups) is directly representative of such structures, and therefore is incompatible with the most base idea of punk. To try to squeeze a wholly damaging power (whether it's government or religion, whatever) that impoverishes and harms disenfranchised and often largely powerless individuals into the anti-establishment nature of punk rock is a bastardization of the entire genre. |

Close. Six cubits and a span is how Goliath is referred to in size. They're saying that America may be bigger in terms of military strength, but as in the David vs. Goliath battle, size doesn't always matter. The "pry my guns from my cold dead hands" is a shot at Americans and our tendency to create dumb slogans for pretty much everything, gun control in this instance. "Just a spectulative fiction, no cause for alarm" is them making fun of how American media turns everything into a terrorism scare tactic. Since we're scared of everything, he's comforting us, saying "Hey, don't worry. We won't REALLY start recklessly killing Americans, chill. It's just a story." The part about laser pucks is definitely my favorite/funniest part of the song. |
