The great thing about Lupe fiasco is you don't have to think very hard to find a meaning in any of his songs, He's as real as anyone going around and say's exactly what he mean's in the lyrics of the song. It's never down to interpretation with him, The message is crystal clear. |

I don't know the exact meaning and i don't like to speculate, But i can say what the song means to me.
It's like he's laying out 4 different scenario's for the same problem... It's called situations which could be a clue... You never know what situation your actions will lead you towards... I'm someone who likes to think about things before they happen and prepare myself for the best and worst case...this song just reminds me how many ways/situations one moment could create. |

Lol why cause they use a cotton filter to draw back through? Lol it's not about smackheads...heroin wasn't even invented when the original was made.
It's about a black slave running off with his masters girlfriend...hence why the original was sung by both the black and white community...because it has the heart ache for the white guy and the happiness for the black guy... Look at the greatest songs ever they're always about heartache or happiness |

| The Flaming Lips – You Have to Be Joking (Autopsy of the Devil's Brain) Lyrics

I don't know the exact meaning of it but something i think needs to be considered that which KUBLIP mentioned, it seems from the perspective of someone being told of a situation similar to new world order/god not being real or many of the other lies we've been told SANTA EASTER BUNNY(i.e. "My vision is blurred again" he repeats this in different verse's suggesting several other moment's in life his reality blurred due to realisation he'd fallen for the same lie everyone has and thing's aren't as they seem
"God and the devil are the same" seems to be referring to how the government always uses god to justify their own terrorism when it's more something the devil would do.
If you break it down like this it becomes clear
Take the first 2 lines of every paragraph and think of it as someone who is being explained about New World Order and not wanting to believe, Then look at the second 2 lines and think about it from the perspective of someone who know's and understands the situation in the world. "Oh, Jesus It's worse then you think"
Mad song either way cause i liked it before i had my eye's open to this subject and never even saw it |
