Right from the beginning, Florence is talking to her love. This song is about being completely honest with him & about how he truly makes her feel and how she couldn't fully tell him the truth before now. She starts with saying that he basically consumes everything she is and he is her thoughts and her heart and everything in-between, but at the same time she's frightened that someone can possess her like this, yet make her see clearer than ever before. She tells him that she would do anything, be anyone just so he will always want to be with her. She's willing to become anything for this man and as she looks for what she thinks he wants, she loses herself and she can't find her way out of the web she's weaved. And she begins to see that she's lying; not only to herself, but to him about who she is. Fear that he'll end up leaving her for becoming the person she thought he wanted, she begs for help asking him what he wants from her. She says "Tell me what you want me to say." When in fact, all he wants is her to have the revelation that she is enough and without the real her, he has no light in his eyes because she is his sun. At least...that's what the song means to me. |
