Josh Ritter – Another New World Lyrics 12 years ago
In my opinion, the song has a much deeper meaning than just an explorer travelling around the world.
Almost all songs are about love, drinking, break-ups, etc. and this song is no different.
This song is about a man who has found the girl of his dreams.
The adventure they go on is, of course, getting married.
Then, he ends up tearing up the marriage, yet he knows it.
"After that it got colder, and the world got quiet. It was never quite day or quite night.
And the sea turned the color of sky turned the color of sea turned the color of ice."
They started fighting, or something similar to that. Or even both of their success tore them apart, it doesn't matter, that's your interpretation.
Then, when he end's up getting "rescued" meaning, that they split up, and the girl ended up living on with her life and "making it to another new world." So that means that she ended up living on her dreams, etc.
I learned this in my music class, just an amazing song, with more meaning behind what people make it look like.

Ed Sheeran – The A Team Lyrics 13 years ago
My opinion of this song is that a girl, around 18 has lost her house or whatever, parents kicked her out so she's living on her own. At the beginning, in my opinion I don't think that she's doing drugs there. She's breathing in the snowflakes, and as you know when the wind blows and you breath in you loose your breath quite a bit and you start to gasp.
In the next verses it talks about her "flying to the motherland" most likely she has started the drug addiction and will do anything to "get a couple grams" which is the drug. If you watch the video you see her trying to sell magazines. You can tell she doesn't want to be homeless anymore and she's desperately trying to get money.
"Long nights strange men"
In this verse she has resorted to prostitution. She's doing whatever she can to get money for drugs.
"Try to swim and stay afloat"
The girl is trying to stay alive, but it's difficult with her drug addiction.
Lastly, when Ed puts the "it's too cold outside, for angels to die" There are a lot of ways this line can be interpretted. After a couple of times of hearing the song, I guessed that someone had let her in and saved her from herself, taking care of her, and making sure she didn't resort to killing herself.
But if you watch the official video, you may notice that at the beginning the person laying down dead is none other than, *gasp* the girl.
So, basically in short the song in my opinion is about a girl who has lost herself in drugs, will do anything to get the drugs, she ends up resorting to prostitution, then when someone tries to help her, it ends up being too late and she dies..
