This song is about an old man feeling sorry for leaving his past lover when things went rough. 1st Verse: First, he is reminiscing the summer-fling relationship he had with a girl, he is telling through this song how he liked her so much and how he cannot imagine not having her beside him. But according to him, when they grew up, that feeling died out. 2nd Verse: He is remembering the first time they've met but he is also remembering how he left her alone by the time the girl's father found out about their relationship. He couldn't help her and stand beside her at that time so he left the girl behind for her to deal with the consequences alone. 3rd Verse: This is the part where the man felt sorry for the girl. He knew he was wrong for leaving her before just to save his ass and he wanted to admit this mistake before he dies. 4th Verse: In this verse, the girl already accepted the bitter things that happened between the two of them. On the other hand, the boy, due to the circumstances, live all through his life in solitude. For the boy, if love cannot despise people who are against their relationship (ex: the girl's father), then what's the point of fighting together with the one you love? That's why he left the girl for good. Very sad lyrics hiding from its sweet melody. It's really a good thing that you know there are still musicians like P!ATD which songs are not just for listening but for interpreting different thoughts as well. |

FOR ME, THIS SONG SOUNDED LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO GET MARRIED. "So often do I meet People in between, That just can't get a hold of it" --> Most of their friends just can't believe that they will finally tie the knot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's the greatest thing that's yet to have happened Imagine knowing me" --> The singer/speaker is just announcing that there will be a wedding and he knows his friends couldn't believe it knowing the character and attitude he has maybe towards relationships. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's the greatest thing you'd ever imagine But you'll never know until you're there No, you'll never know until you're there" --> It's like saying "You will never know the feeling of being truly in love and deciding to spend the rest of your life with that someone unless you get there youself." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Slow, leave walking to the world Give your feet a chance They'll do all the thinking" --> This is like "Walking along the aisle". He's just saying that she doesn't need to worry and she can just let go. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Toast high until they find Less pathetic wine, Until they get a better blend" --> They can totally celebrate their relationship without worrying other people's opinions because eventually, when people realize how good they are together, they can finally accept their union. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well yeah, for me this is the meaning of this song and I don't think the title has to do with the lyrics. :) |
