Wow. That's quite an intimate understanding of the song. Definitely darker than I imagined it's meaning to be, but there's a profound logic to your explanation. MX Missiles are thermonuclear devices. It's hyperbole to emphasize the degree to which some people seem immortal. If you can withstand the blast of a nuke, one could easily make an argument for your indestructibility. |

Some people? In a broad sense yes, I would agree it remarks on the stony nature of people who seem to live in their minds well above the rest of us lowly masses. But somehow I think there's a girl behind this. And maybe Mr. Bird would prefer to keep that secret for himself. God knows we all have things too intimate to share. C'mon though, you don't write a song like that about just anybody... |
