Music is one of my many loves and that's mainly why I joined this site. Interpreting song lyrics? Heck, I'm game. So, I hope my own interpretations will be helpful to others, since I found a lot of help in others' as well. That's all.

Adele – Someone Like You Lyrics 13 years ago
In my opinion, this song is all about love gone wrong, and not being able to let go.

This is a story of two people who had been best friends, possibly had tried to engage in a romantic relationship, too, at some point, but as years passed they've strayed away from each other. A clue for their estrangement is that she finds out from a third person ("I heard...") that he has settled down and gotten married. She visits him after all those years, to remind him that they were once friends, and that her feelings for him aren't gone. He's hesitant and shy, and seeing how happy he is with his life, she realizes that it's too late for them now. The past is gone and she'd best move on, even find someone else, although someone like him, a nice guy to settle down with. She wants him to be happy, even though it hurts her to know that it's not her he's happy with.

I think it's one of Adele's most passionate songs. You can feel it in her voice when she enters the chorus. "Nevermind, I'll find someone like you." It sounds like she's practically trying to keep herself from crying. I love how many emotions she can get through to the listener with her voice.

In the end, I think this song is about how love can built you up, and about how it can break you down when you can't let yourself let go of your feelings for a person who's already out of your reach. It's a beautiful song and I think most people can relate to the meaning it's trying to pass.

Rihanna – Love the Way You Lie (Part II) Lyrics 13 years ago
I think there's a reason that this song (and Part I, of course) were, and perhaps still are, on the top charts. I'm not a fan of rap myself, but this song hit a soft spot inside me. Its meaning is crystal clear. A relationship that starts out perfectly, with two people who're head over heels for each other, but it soon turns out to be nothing but an abusive relationship. They hate and love each other at the same time, fighting and then feeling sorry about it. They're indeed two psychopaths, whose love is so strong they think they can move mountains. And just because their love is so strong, they overlook the fights, the pain and the horror they inflict on each other, because they can't go on without one another.

So, this song is about a hate/love relationship, and how people can be stuck in an unhealthy relationship just because their feelings are too strong for them to give up on their other half, even though they're hurting. In my opinion, this song is a true piece of art.

Pink – Sober Lyrics 13 years ago
This amazing song of P!nk is obviously about love. She is in a relationship and she tries desperately to not become clingy. She tries to play cool when he doesn't come home, but she stays up at night, waiting for him, anyways. He is her protection/perfection; his love is the drug that gets her high. But, because it's not an actual drug, she's still sober, and his love is making her feel like she's actually on drugs. The bridge talks about getting down from that high, because their relationship breaks down. "It's so good till it goes bad." It applies to almost every relationship. They have a nasty break-up, and the "party's over."

It means that you shouldn't leave anything to just happen. You've got to make it happen.

Sugarland – Something More Lyrics 13 years ago
Ever since I first came across this particular song, it has been on my top songs list. It is about taking chances, not just surrendering to a life that doesn't inspire or fulfill us. About doing what we want the most and freeing ourselves from the pressures of everyday-life once in a while. Routine can be rather suffocating sometimes, especially when you're not doing what you love. For instance, working at a place you'd rather not, be in a relationship that's not good enough for you etc.

The thing I like the most in this song is the line: "Some believe in destiny and some believe in fate, but I believe that happiness is something we create." And it is absolutely true. At the end of the day, it is nothing but us and our choices that define who we are, and how our life turns out. You might want to leave everything to fate and luck, but if you don't lift a finger yourself, happiness ain't gonna come your way.

One of the best songs I've ever had the luck to listen to.
