| Blur – Out of Time Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is emotional, because it's about being unable to recognize the realities of this world. Day by day, people socialize, do their jobs, use their computers, play their games, feed their pets, yet they're unable to see the negatives of this world as they are blocked by sunshine. "And I don't know what life would be if we stop dreaming now" equals being unable to see the world through reality; also, since that line is followed by "Lord knows we'd never clear the clouds,' it's pretty much saying there's so much darkness that you can't clear the clouds, and that's a matter of life; half the world is darkness, and half the world is light. Also, "you" could specify a particular person or any group of people and how they don't realize the world spinning the 'wrong' way, signifying the fact that they're trapped by their own ignorant thinking. They think of the world as sunshine and daises, and when 'we're running of of time' comes into play, they don't know how to prepare themselves. They don't know how to prepare themselves for war, famine, or any of the atrocities of this world, because they clearly don't have a clue what's going on. Possibly, I have a more negative (albeit realistic) interpretation of this song due to my nihilistic beliefs. This song is a matter of life, and better face the realities of this world or end up becoming PART of the realities, ie, darkness. | |
| Daft Punk – Giorgio by Moroder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| The song's about the future, but it's also about enjoying the music you like and the fact that you can like more than one thing without coming off as "fake." At least, that's my interpretation of this song. | |

| Depeche Mode – Lie To Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think it's about the submissive quality somebody has in their relationship where they come to believe that the person they're with loves them, though it's false. The only reason they think he/she loves them is because they turned their (sub)conscious mind into believing it, as a way of escaping from hurt and rejection. Their partner is probably secretly laughing behind their "innocent" smile, and it more often then not leads to failure as a relationship, because it's just not working out on a truthful level. It's a sarcastic way to fall in love; it's also a good way to die. | |
| Ladytron – Moon Palace Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Interesting song. I don't know what these lyrics are about either, but the idea of the moon being disguised as an organic rock (if it were actually an artificial satellite) is interesting. (though I know it's not true, I'm using it as an example of what the other person wrote) I never read the novel, but for some reason, this song seems to be associated (at least a little bit) with the new age era. Certain images in Ladytron songs stir in my head visions of spiritual awareness and the universe. If this song does have any esoteric message, I would say that it means that any individual can transcend everyday occurrences to find some sort of spirituality within the universe (perhaps I'm attaching my pantheistic views on this song) regardless of whether or not certain aspects aren't actually cooked up to be what they seem. (ex: the moon being an artificial satellite instead of a rock). Times change, so we should learn how to adapt to the newer age as it progresses. You learn to see more than just the science behind the moon, stars, planets etc and find that humans are star formations. It sounds ridiculous, but it's really not. There are certain things in the universe humans are unaware of, so we might as well let things be. People have a funny way of trying to find literal meanings in songs, and it's pointless, because while songs may deliver literal meanings, you can't actually 'see' through the soul of the one who wrote a specific song--only the person who wrote the song can know 100% what it means which is why songmeanings exists. Those are my two cents. As I said, I don't know what these lyrics are about. I took a guess. |

| Primal Scream – Beautiful Future Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It took me a while to really figure out what this song means to me, but after thinking about it for a while, I can say that it's a bit sarcastic in its effect. A 'dream life' is actually something that isn't completely free and is composed of restrictions just like the life that is full of problems. It's an artificial take on society, especially a perfect one, and could be used to define how humans are never going to be perfected by any means. The world isn't completely dystopian when pared against the events that could be happening but aren't, but it will never be perfect. Humans will always be flawed, and naturally, life itself will always be flawed. The dream house, perfect children, wife / husband etc do not make life more meaningful. They are add-ons for better, but they do not make life perfect. I see this song as also branching out towards the artificial 'voice' of fame and fortune. Celebrities with all of their expensive cars etc, but then again, that is a part of the artificial feelings stemmed from a so-called 'perfect life.' | |
| Depeche Mode – Newborn Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Perhaps the reason this wasn't included on the "Playing the Angel" album is because it isn't really suitable for the -pain-suffering- themes. Rather, it's optimistic in its effect and is along the same lines as metamorphosis. A human is consciously aware of his or her surroundings and can come in terms with lightness, to see and define qualities that were unnoticeable before. It speaks of change in a great way - and as such could be used to help foster a friendship with someone else who recognizes those qualities of change for better. Because humans need each other, even the introverted ones, there is a connection between those two -friendship, relationship- ect and it's is actually a great thing. It's like the lion watching over its cubs. It's romantic, but it's also survival. | |
| t.A.T.u. – Not Gonna Get Us Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Good song, but because I love a person I'll never have, it's kind of a difficult listening experience. Nevertheless, a good track. The beats are quite cool and those girls know how to sing! | |
| Depeche Mode – Wrong Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| From the narrative's viewpoint, nothing is going correctly and that only alarms him with disappointment. Nothing is good enough for other people, and he takes their judgment as a fallacy on his part. He is taken for granted and all of his choices seem more like failures to other people (or maybe not), and he feels as if the only 'direction' that suits him is the 'wrong' direction. His psychology is wrong; his creations are wrong; his body is wrong; his choices are wrong; his memories are wrong; his values are wrong and so on and so forth. The only means of finding happiness is to be done with fallacy - the fallacy of other people's beliefs, or possibly his inward beliefs that appear as misinterpretations of what others say or do to reflect him. Maybe I am putting my own emotions to the song, but it's an opinion and the words hit a button with me - the start of the song 'wrong' hurts every time I hear it - such a powerful song. | |
| Ladytron – Tomorrow Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
'The crack in the window' sparks your interest in that particular person, maybe, but regardless, there is a lack of concern towards that person - even if they eventually come back, unfrozen, and alive (after you freeze them, if you do). Take cryogenics, for instance, perhaps you will freeze the person - and feel guilty towards your choices of freezing them. (freezing - cryogenics - being a metaphor for stopping them dead in their tracks and causing them pain - but the guilt manifesting afterwards as a way to NOT be apologetic, so you don't die as well) Or maybe it's literal indifference. You don't actually want to 'freeze' them and their memories- but if you hate them enough, you will want to see their heart stop (and if they 'come back lucky', they are a miracle). Indifference, guilt, hatred or distraught could all, in theory, make it seem as if they are 'frozen' from you by you holding up a psychological shield, without actually doing so. There is a difference between holding up a psychological shield and shattering somebody's memories for protection... etc. |

| Ladytron – Black Plastic Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I see this song as a reference to society's addiction to fashionable material objects / things that have no feelings attached - possibly as an alternative to not being loved or as a way to gain the excitement from what was previously explored. Quite possibly there was a romantic connection between two individuals, but because those feelings were drained, the fervor was cast through the touch of a city (which displays a sense of urgency) and also the black plastic chair (which seems to have some symbolism to it - the classiness of modern to futuristic embellishments). 'Black plastic, touching black plastic,' to me, is about how material fanatics are parasitic to one another, and with 'time to spare' there is an exploration period which individuals are drawn to in order to come to terms of both the spiritual and physical worlds - ex - the environment. (as a replacement for lost love etc) | |
| Ladytron – Light and Magic Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I am not particularly sure of what this song is literally about, but to me it is talking about how people rely on technology and become friends with those who appear to be plastic. I don't know what the term "light & magic" means, either, but if I had to take a guess, I'd say that it's referring to the society that we live on - if you have the 'glitz' you are fitting enough to be associated with today's day and age. People will accept you no matter how phony you are - but your only friends are the plastics, and your only true self is mundane (and addiction) - hence the line 'xerox of yourself' - (regardless of you being lucky if the light's not out and you can take a fine day at the beach to show yourself) because your actions are so predictable they're laughable. 'You cut your hair and made a friend, now they are falling into you' talks about how some people in society are so based on what other people think of them; they cut their hair and try to be fashionable and make friendships for the wrong reason - plastics attract plastics. This isn't saying everybody who likes fashion is plastic or whatever, it's saying the plastic people who like fashion attract other plastics and when one plastic follows, the rest follow. And... when you come in terms with understanding of loss, you begin to see the 'show' as something very fake, an illusion that stings in both today and tomorrow... you don't miss out on much even if you 'lost the line' |

| Depeche Mode – World In My Eyes Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I read that all of their songs on "Violator" were about drug addiction and struggles. If this is the case, this song is no different especially with lines such as: And you won't have to move You just sit still Now let your mind do the walking And let my body do the talking Let me show you the world in my eyes This is the effect of drug addiction: "showing the person the world through its eyes," until they become addicted. The person can go through the world through their illusions, so they are not "literally" moving through the world. It's almost a sarcastic romanticism between the drug abuser and it within itself, a close relationship that means that there is nowhere to move towards outside of the mind. It's connecting these words and tying romanticism with the literal meaning of not directly finding anything real, but just discovering reality as stimulated images. The images that are "stimulated" would be classified as (trees, skies, hills, you name it) throughout the world that are only drug-related projections. These images could be a metaphor for fake dreams and faked success that is internal and left unaccomplished while the user continues to "feast" off of these hopeful sessions. The romance between the drug and the user is what defines "dream" through the internal visions, so the user continues to feed off them. The idea of only having "internal dreams" and unaccomplished ones is enough to mean the romance between the user and the drug is sarcastic, because while they feel euphoric, they are also failing. They want to leave but can't. Let me put you on a ship On a long, long trip Your lips close to my lips All the islands in the ocean Again, these lines point towards the connection between so-called romance and the idea of not truly "moving," because the user is close to the drug--"lips close to my lips." The first two lines here are theoretical statements of not only envisioning a place far away but now arriving at this place as a further consequence. (meaning the drug wants the person to actually "accomplish" these dreams but only internally.) With the progression of envisioned like-sentiments towards arrival, the romance progresses. It becomes dangerous in a sense, but the user enjoys these images and feelings. (starting to see their projected reality as actual substance). They think they have accomplished dreams and life, but in actuality, they haven't. The line "let me show you the world in my eyes" is telling the person the whole world generally. It is a statement paramount to "please take me" that is rather persuasive in terms. |
