I believe this song is about suicide, at least someone thinking of suicide. The reason I feel this way is I have been on the other side of a suicide attempt, and the words in this song echo what a dear dear friend said to me and what I said to him as the crisis was happening. I was fortunate enough to have some training on the signs of suicide, but in most cases the signs are very subtle and go unnoticed, Do yourself a favor and learn the signs, it could save the life of a loved one. I can see where some believe this song is about love and/or the heartache of being in love with someone who doesn't want to be with you anymore. I'm sure this song has many different meanings to different people, according to what they have experienced in their life. But when I hear the song I see a someone who is in a dark place and feels there is nothing worth living for. But this one person is telling him that even though all of your friends and family have abandoned you, I won't let you go, no matter what, just give me your hand...I won't let you go. . |
