I feel like the narrator of this song is struggling with mixed emotions. Contrary to most commentators, I do not think he is abusive. With the words "Baby when I'm Yellin' at you, it's not your fault," He isn't literally yelling at the object of his affection, rather he's fighting with himself. For example when he says "She's a ten, I'm a joke in my own mind," he's saying that he's insecure and doesn't feel worthy of her. Also, if you've seen the music video, I believe it is a metaphor for the demons that plague his own mind and keep him from giving himself completely to his lover...But in the end he defeats them and can be with her. I could totally just be over analyzing this though:p |
