While the chorus "Everything i touch turns to gold then to coal" may seem somewhat straight forward i still found this song a bit hard to analyze since some parts of the rest of the song is a bit harder to pin down. But i think this song is about how a person can really feel in charge of certain things like a persons job for example and in this job have so much power to do as he/she pleases but then on other fronts be so helpless. or perhaps it is a song seen through the eyes of a bad person, like imagine the story " a Christmas carol" where the main character has the power to do good but instead chooses to use his power for his own gain and does not give a second thought to the plight of others whom he considers beneath him, this could be referenced in lyrics such as "I command so much negativity, my charge drains the life from machinery" , The sole fact that the character is evil could explain lyrics such as "I feel such powerlessness, when I struggle with forgiveness" He is so powerful and yet because he is evil and could not care less about others he struggles with good deeds such as forgiveness. There is probably more interpretations than this but this is merely my interpretation. |

| Woods Of Ypres – Shards of Love (Hurt Forever) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This is about as straight forward of a song as it gets, this is the type of song where you can literally read the first line and know what it is about, its about love ending involuntary, about loosing someone you love, perhaps because of some misunderstanding...perhaps because of your mistakes, you want to make it right but as the saying goes " A true fool does not know what he has until it is already too late" this is a beautiful song and the lyrics require no explanation. | |
