Well, L.E.S stands for Lower East Side referring the the neighborhood in New York City. I feel that the song is about moving to the Lower East Side of New York in order to find yourself. She is trying to cross an artistic barrier; absorb as much of city life as possible all while still remaining an introvert (quite reserved to herself). Also she is hoping that moving to the L.E.S was the right move since she is leaving a lot behind (relationships, ideas, sentiments), yet also it is discussing how in order to become an artist (of any sorts) it involves giving up a lot, especially emotionally. |
