I think the sirens are the symbols for his past loves (I'm assuming you know what sirens are haha). As for the last two lines, he's reaching out from his heart to the listener's pain, or distress through his songs (which he wrote with his pen). |

This song really speaks to my soul. I think most of it is pretty obvious. He was in a meaningful relationship with a girl that went south. She left him and he is now with another girl. However, he is not over the first girl and still thinks about those times where they first fell in love and how at the time they never thought the relationship would end. I think any guy can relate to this song, and the last verse is especially powerful: "And who came to drive you around this town
Like I used to drive you all around with the radio on." We all carry around with us the ghost of that one girl who got away. This song is about her. |
