Radiohead – Gagging Order Lyrics 5 years ago
A couple more for breakfast. A couple more for tea. Just to take the edge off. Sounds like an alcoholic.

Pouring down the street.

Lost control. Your not the boss of your own body.

Nothing left to see. Just the shell of the man now gagging.

Thom Yorke – Give Up the Ghost Lyrics 12 years ago
Gather up the lost and sold in your arms
Gather up the pitiful in your arms

These two statements mean just what they sound like. Help the people in this world less fortunate than yourself.

"What seems impossible" - the statements above and all the other things that you know is right but is just so difficult to do - take those on (world peace, human rights, global warming I suppose)

"I think I've had my fill" - sick of how everything is right now, sick of doing nothing about it.

"I think I should give up the ghost" - Just give up on trying to convince you (or self) to try to do the above.

"Don't haunt me" - giving up the ghost will come back to haunt us all.

Radiohead – There There. (The Boney King of Nowhere.) Lyrics 13 years ago
I'll break this down for you pedestrians.

This song is about a dude who is courting a woman with whom he shouldn't - for Americans he wants to hit that.

The first phrase is a literary reference to which is of no consequence; however, it refers to a man "falling" for a woman as he often thinks about her at night as it were.

The next phrase is another literary reference this time from Homer - of which I'm sure you are all aware, even the americans. It represents a temptation; giving in will lead to bad consequences.

"Don't reach out." Self-explanatory

The next phrase - he knows what he is feeling is transitory (someone on your shoulder means his logic/conscience - while the temptation would be the other shoulder).

Green is an unfrequently used term to mean feelings of lasciviousness (or horny for americans).

Heaven sent you to me and we are accidents waiting to happen - imply he made up his mind and it is going to happen.

I do think you have a point. Going to church or adhering to religion would indicate conformity or submission. It would be similar to the conformity one has to go through in order to be a husband or parent. At some point you might get sick of it and say F@#$ it. Then the "cut the kids" part alludes to Solomon and the person who doesn't want to cut the kid is the true parent - but essentially, divorce and such would be selfish, non-conforming and you'd be cutting them in half as bad parents or

Radiohead – Fog Lyrics 13 years ago
Most people are right except for the alligators. They grow up fast because they are fed so much shit. Even though we all have an innocent child inside of us, if you feed the bad parts of you too much crap they will become stronger, and you will be a bad person. The fog coming up is being haunted by the bad things you have done that you will never forget (won't wash away). Anything you want to do, you can do, but you will have to live with it. If you build up enough of those things, you will have full grown alligators and you are now a bad person.

NOFX – Love Story Lyrics 13 years ago
The mortgage on a tudor house with a picket fence means they are attempting to live the American dream. But on a special occasion on which the wife is dressed up and ready to spend with her husband, she spends it alone with her gently used diaphragm put away. Fast forward to when she ignores that all is not okay with what she thought was her American dream and they have kids; eventually, she can't take it anymore and realizes that the dream was only for him and she is left at home with kids and miserable. She shoots herself and splatters her blood on the wall (blood is thicker than water is the saying). He stares at it, but who is going to clean it up because a woman is supposed to do the cleaning in the American dream.
