Jeremy said it in the What Separates Me From You Track Commentary, what the song's about, here's what he said: “This song is, uh, directly about people that kind of look at being in a band in our whole lifestyle that we live and they look at it is like a competition, you know, kind of thing. ‘Cause that’s just not the kind of band we are and I realize that we’re all trying to make a living out of it and stuff, but you know. I mean, the way we look at things is we do what we wanna do and we don’t really care what anyone thinks, we’re just really fortunate that kids like what we do, you know, so, I mean, we just kind of do what we want and we try to have a good time like when we play shows, with what we do on stage and stuff like that and uh, sometimes a lot of these more serious bands don’t take kindly to that and, I don’t know, we had some run-ins with people and we’re just trying to, you know, be nice and you know, be good people on the road, just trying to hang out. Okay, I'm being honest here, check the Wikipedia to this song if you don't believe me and see for yourself...The lead singer, Ryan Tedder, himself, said that this is what he song is about... "This song is about being happy with what you have in life, and not obsessing over what you don't have. Whether it's a person or relationship, love, or success, or even fame, we wanted to make a piece of art and do something beautiful and inspiring," That's what he said and that's what the song is about, just to clear things up for everybody, and like I said if you don't believe me, check it up for yourself, you'll see what I mean. :) |
