If you watch the video for this, it's definitely about idolising things. They're simply saying that you shouldn't sacrifice yourself or idolise things that aren't worth your idolising. Like false idols, we idolise money, our job, popularity or even music - when we should be focussing on God, our creator. |

Also, in the bible there is the part at the Tower of Babel when the Holy Spirit came down to the mass of people and gave them all a language to speak. Whereas before that they all had he same language. |

I'm a christian yet admittedly I have not read the whole bible. But there are many references to speaking in tongues (it's hard to explain) - maybe it's jmust a reference to that, without actually speaking in tongues. But Chris' yellling in the background is very haunting, and yes, like the end-of-the-world. |

I think seabirdmaniac nailed it. I stared at this song for ages trying to work it out - but as a Christian, the whole prayer thing really works. Especially the part where it says silence is golden, I'm often dumbstruck when I pray - I'm lost for words and the weight of the world bears down. But God understands us most in our time of need so in my opinion, when the world is too much and we simply can't pray, can't put our despair into words, that is when God understands us and understands our pain and inability to form words. I don't know, to me the prayer analogy is perfect. |

Yeh I've watched a couple of interviews with Aaron about this song - it's exactly what the other guy said. It's about a car crash in which a guy decides to kill his girlfriend because he can never love her like Christ can. It's definitely morbid, but an amazing song. |

I've been reading all these comments for this song, and they're all relevant - I think Underoath are the masters of writing songs that can be taken many different ways.
To me, this song is about a person who has strayed from God and maybe can remember all the good memories when he/she was a kid. When a faith with God is simple and child-like. In the Bible God says that we are to have a child-like faith.
I dunno, if I was in an amazing relationship with a girl and then it collapsed then I would probably take the song in the way everyone else is, but I haven't. I'm struggling with my faith so this song speaks to me. |
