Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson Lyrics 13 years ago
This is an interesting way of looking at it, but if it was about unwed sex, wouldn't it be "Ms." Robinson instead of "Mrs."?

Fool's Garden – Lemon Tree Lyrics 13 years ago
This kind of reminds me of 'Pumped Up Kicks' by Foster the People, because the lyrics are depressing but it's such a catchy tune.
This song is literal, because his girlfriend died in a car accident. She had crashed into a lemon tree.
He sits on the porch, maybe not absorbing what has happened. The days are rainy without her. He wonders how his outlook could change so much from one event. He'd like to change the way he views things, but he's so lonely and feels that nobody's trying to help him out of his rut.
He's in a desert of joy. No joy to be found anywhere.
She had told him about the blue blue sky, but without her, he just can't see it and wonders if he ever will again.
He doesn't want to sit on a lemon tree. Doesn't want to be stuck like this forever.
Maybe he'll get another toy: something to play with, something to distract him. And everything will happen - he will start living his life again.
Beautiful and dark lyrics with an upbeat melody. Love this song.

The Kooks – Mr. Maker Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is saying that you don't have to be religious or a member of a certain group to have a good life (He's not a member of the Catholic church). But that people need something perfect to believe in, to motivate them into being better people themselves. Hence Mr. Maker, even if he's struggling with other things (Love us all, please stay on your feet). I always thought of when people say 'meet your maker.' The meaning of this song is hard to grasp, but that's my take.

The Black Keys – Gold on the Ceiling Lyrics 13 years ago
If 'gold on the ceiling' is a violent ejaculation, why would anyone want to get it?

The Black Keys – Gold on the Ceiling Lyrics 13 years ago
Everyone seems to be saying that this song is about drug addictions, drugs, heroin, etc. I think he's trying to say that, no matter how rough it gets, there's some things in life that can't be taken away.

Billy Joel – Scenes From An Italian Restaurant Lyrics 13 years ago
Billy remembers how Brenda and Eddie's relationship fell apart, how they peaked in high school and were now just trying to make ends meet.
Billy and a friend from high school catch up on each other's lives in their old meeting place.
There's no hidden meaning for the ongoing 'reds and whites' debate. It's just wine. The whole song is sort of sweet and reminiscent, an account of his high school experience, so I doubt he would mention drugs.
That's all. Great song. One of his best.
