Nirvana – Sappy Lyrics 12 years ago
Hm. I believe it's like this:

Imagine you're a small pet, like a hamster, you have been
'saved' like taken care of by the Big One.

He keeps you in a jar, he gives you breathing holes and you are 'covered in grass' - you have whole lot of food. You are being limited (?) and restrained, however you're still grateful, you think you're happy and you're saved.

The truth is, you're in a jar and the Big One saved you just to put you into washer to see you suffer. "Conclusion came to you" - you realize you're fucked.

In general, that Big One could be God or Just someone who has too much control over you and you're not even aware that you're going to be abused...

Very sarcastic, very sad, and, unfortunately, sometimes true.

Alice in Chains – Heaven Beside You Lyrics 13 years ago
I interpret this song quite similliar to you. I think that Cantrell is trying to tell that Staley can't see all the good things he has, he's constantly searching for something he cannot find, unable to find the inner peace or serenity showing up in Layne's lyrics.

Cantrell is aware of that, but he doesn't know how could he help his friend, he's already tired of these problems and sees them from some distance, he gets more ambivalent about them.

"Hell within" may relate to Layne's addiction, but i think that whole song is about Layne's general attidude towards life.

Too bad he didn't get a chance to deal with these problems being clean.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside Lyrics 13 years ago
You're right, it's "once you KNOW, you can never go back", it is so in the album booklet. Also my favorite line, i have no idea either, but the song is really dark and touching.

Pantera – 10's Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't understand this song. I believe it's about heroin, but what does it mean that "my foes, the can't destroy my body"?

That he's going to destroy his body himself? Interpretation of immortality feel doesn't fit to the rest of the song...

And what is the thing about transfusion?

Pantera – Drag the Waters Lyrics 13 years ago
Illumadept, interesting interpretation, at least it could be, because i can smell a heavy stoner or a psycho, maybe id you tried to make a litte more understandable it would be OK.

Anyway, mine is also a bit chaotic :P After reading all of the comments i think that song is a bit literal and methaforical at the same time.

First part is like most of you said, about a guy who does some really bad shit and gets no real punishment thanks to his father. His father is aware that his son can be even worse than he seems to be, but he doesn't want to realise that.

Then, the chorus - Drag the waters - search for something. look deeper in the son, maybe there's something much worse than what he did. (murder?) If interpreting "Drag the waters" literally, it could mean to look for the body of somebody he killed. Then drag the waters would have 2 meanings at once - to search for bodies and truth about somebody. (as Dime suggested)

Second part. Guy finds a girl that satisfies him, but he gets into drugs maybe together with her, gets thin (heroin thin, skinny), loses his touch with reality together with his money and friends. Only his girlfriend stands by his side. However, as "her smile cannot hide
the premonition of the beckoning end", she is slowly getting aware that they are losing everything because of the drugs. My thought was also that she feels that he's going to do something bad to her eventually (kill her?). This is a bit strong interpretation, but could fit to the rest.

So, in second chorus "Drag the Waters" may refer to the girl, that she's going to find out that hidden truth, that they are in fucked up situation and that the guy is going to kill her. It could be also an interesting double meaning to drag the waters and find her body.
