| Radiohead – Jigsaw Falling into Place Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's about how when a relationship ends, you start to see it before you, in contemplation, like a puzzle coming together. It's when you realize, no matter what the outcome was, "there is nothing to explain", because it is what it is. | |

I like how many different interpretations there are for what's going on lyrically, throughout this album. I've heard everything from experiencing the divine, to the subject being a sort of mediator in the creation of the world. I think it's got just as much to do with what's beyond, as what's close and familiar to us. There's a lot of language indicating familiarity, with being able to "clutch", "carry", "hold", etc., or the desire for something like that. But, we're thinking so much about what's beyond our grasp, in terms of higher powers and such, as if everything in our world is easily attainable. It can be anything from an unattainable goal, to an unattainable person. Also, the "depth" of emotions, if you catch my drift. If anything, Oceanic could even be seen as an exploration of the self! |

I've always thought Chris put a lot into his lyricism. This song clearly plays on the idea of a biological father and a father of the Church, and sort of denies the idea of a tie to either of them. More generally, it plays on the idea of family as an institution, and how society dictates how we behave within that institution. But then it's like, what if we don't relate with that for whatever reason? For example, say you come from a bad family that brings you nothing but unhappiness? It's interesting to think about. He seems to actually play on that idea a lot in Cursed lyrics, and even in his stuff in Burning Love. |

| New Order – Lonesome Tonight Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's about an attempt to relinquish a relationship from youth, where one person left the other. It seems like the person who wanted it was constantly wronged by the other in previous attempts at the relationship, so now when the other person wants it, they don't. Perhaps they thought they did, and then realized that time doesn't always take away the pain, and just couldn't deal with it. Stuff like this never works, so I've gotta say I definitely agree with the idea of this song. | |

Yup. I think you can especially see this with... "You find renown while people frown At things that you say But say what you'll say About the farmers and the fun And the things behind the sun And the people around your head Who say everything's been said And the movement in your brain Sends you out into the rain." |

MBV were pretty big into goth rock before Loveless, and I think you can still see a lot of that with Isn't Anything. Although, they were slowly moving away from that sound, the play on sex and death here is so goth rock. I guess, you could see it as wanting someone you can't have so badly that you want to die. Very morbid, but also very sexual. I'm surprised no one mentioned that. |
