To start off, the singer did not even make the 'call'. It hurts him too much to stand by the telephone, knowing that even if he makes the call, he will not reach her the way he wanted to. He goes off saying "I wish you could have two of everything beautiful that reminds me of you". This line implies that human, as we are, are not perfect in the sense that we can be both beautiful and ugly, good and bad, etc. all at the same time. So, he wishes that he could only have the nicest (with the absence of the bad) memory of her. This theme occurs throughout the night, hopelessly reminiscing every traceable memory. It ends with a hope, "In the morning, I'll be there." |
