| Thriving Ivory – Flowers for a Ghost Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Like skullz, I thought this was about someone dying, but I interpreted it as the singer, not the girl. You disappear with all your good intentions She may have been at the funeral and trying to do the best she could (her good intentions), but now she's inaccessible to the singer since she's still living. And all I am is all I could not mention All that's left of him is the secrets he took to the grave, the things he left unsaid, what he never told her. Like who will bring me flowers when it's over Who will put flowers on his gravestone. Note that the song's title is "Flowers for a Ghost". This implies, as it is "who will bring ME flowers", that it is the singer who is the titular ghost. And who will give me comfort when it's cold Who will come and visit him, when his body's cold in the ground. She took a plane to somewhere out in space To start a life and maybe change the world She's beginning to move on with her life. See I never meant for you to have to crawl No I never meant to let you go at all He never wanted to make her suffer after his death and hurt because of the loss; he never meant to die. Don't ever say goodbye He doesn't want the girl to forget him. See my head aches from all this thinkin' Feels like a ship God, God knows I'm sinkin' Wonder what you do and where it is you stay These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away He wonders what the girl's life is like now. Who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it’s cold Again, now that the girl has moved on with her life, who will visit his grave, and who will remember him? Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins Who will tell him what the world's like after died, and who will tell him what's to come? Don't ever say goodbye He doesn't want the girl to let him go. I'm only human I'm only human I'm only human He's acknowledging his mortality; he died; he's only human. That's what humans do. But the 'only' implies that he wishes he weren't and he could stay. |
