| Portugal. The Man – Sleep Forever Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Basically, regardless of how many religious followers live the majority of their adult life devoting themselves to "Him" (God, obviously), he (John- the singer) is not afraid of what is to come, despite his sins ("Cause we are all rebels"). Instead, it is almost as if when he dies, he hopes to leave the physical life all behind ("I hope the light that I become can sleep for once"). Also, it is hard to ignore the strong religious context, but overall I believe this song speaks against organized religion and that living life and raising your children to have a fulfilling and honest life is what life is all about rather than worrying and fearing "Him", while being blinded by the corrupted and fucked up society. | |
