If you ask me, Taylor is not just being a catty bitch, and this song goes deeper than to just flame a certain person for stealing her boyfriend (obviously, cause you can't 'steal' a man, it's his decision whether or not to take the bait), as the teenybopper fans that give Taylor a bad name seem to think. It goes out to all the spoilt bitches out there that get everything they want; the part about sophistication, pushing people down, her going to prep school and valuing vintage dresses makes that evident, and they are good at being fake and looking nice to the public which only furthers their efforts to obtain everything they want. But regardless, Taylor's talent, sweetness, earnesty, etc. wins out in the end; and she gets her revenge and there is nothing that the rich bitch, with all of her power, money, sheer bitchiness, etc. can do about that. Yes it seems like a catty high school drama but we all know Taylor is more talented and mature than that, she is just translating the message through one of her own personal experiences to make it accessible to her audience. I know because I happen to sort of know this person over the internet who is sort of a mini celebrity in her field, and yes I hate her but for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASON. Yet I only need to tweak the lyrics a bit and it fits her. Oh, and it's not her ever present frown but her ever present SMILE that bothers me o.O;; |
