There are songs that make me want to know the meaning, because of the amazing feeling that is in it, as well as the beautiful music. And there are songs that have such a fun great music that you do not even pay attention to the lyrics, because the music is so fun and great, and this one is one of them. |

I think it is amazing how people can write songs with such a sensitive subject, and write them in such a clever way!
Child abuse is an awful thing, this child will grow eventually and be affected by it all for us, some for life!
I have a friend who was sexually abused by her father (her and her sister). They were left damaged. My friend is now in her 30s and has been struggling for years because of the trauma. We became friends because when I moved, I was her next door neighbour. At first I could not understand why she was not nice when I was friendly and nice to her, but by getting to know her, I learnt that when you have been abused, it is hard to believe that there are nice people out there who won't hurt you. Also, she seemed to want to hurt others because she wanted them to feel the pain she was feeling. When I told her that she did not have to go through any more pain if she let the light of God in. She roared at me! She said that if God existed he should not have let it happen. I can totally understand how she feels and how many would think the same. However, God is not responsible for our actions. He loves us all, he taught us to love one another. He is aware of those who go through it and at some point he sends his angels to let them know that he knows and wants to heal them. |

She definitely left an everlasting sound. Amy was beautiful and talented! I am not sure what you mean by "some artists live a life where they burn intensely but their nature eventually kills them?" I think artists are special people with a good heart and a good nature.
Whatever this song means to Amy, it brings a reality of addictions. Most people who suffer addictions do not fully see they need help. And some are possibly scared of being without it, as it has been some "hiding" comfort in their lives, and may possibly be scared of changes, and how their body/ mind would react without it.
Let us be honest with ourselves, we all suffer with some kind of addiction in our lives, to some it may be more obvious, but we all have something: being a clean freak, or a chocolate mad, some can be religious freak, or music mad.... we are all hiding behind some insecurities but won't admit it. |

English is not my first language, so how I understand songs in English may not be correct. I do not see the religious meaning. For me, this song is about addictions, because of past insecurities/pains and seeing no way out but death (as anyone would do if trapped). I could be totally wrong. |
