| Radiohead – Bishop's Robes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| To say Radiohead is (was :'( )better than the Beatles would be an understatement. They could have never been like the Beatles without first discarding all that made Radiohead great. | |
| Regina Spektor – Another Town Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| The way the phrase, "Another town" is used, it reminds me of alternate universes. Scientists have theories that there are alternate universes for each decision made no matter how small, so I thought that maybe she is describing other universes where things are different. The first half of the song is talking about negative alternatives to her world, so I originally thought that by saying she knows she would love "you," she is basically saying she doesn't love "you" in this world, but then I listened more, and realized that a. she wouldn't have sung "I love you" so many times with the same happy tune if it was the opposite of the truth; it just doesn't make sense, and b. the second half is all positive changes, so I think that every time she says she knows about something, it is neither, but something true from her world she is living in. That brought me to the conclusion that when she says "I love you," she is saying that no matter what the circumstances are, she will always love "you." I also thought that saying "Another town" instead of "Alternate universe" was not only because it fit better but because it is like our universe is just a small town compared to the infinite picture and her world really is just a town because people in towns really far away from most towns don't even think about them just like there are so many people these decisions and alternate universes don't affect. | |
| Radiohead – Karma Police Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
The thing with karma is that it really isn't spiritual at all. It is just simple human reactions: if you're nice to someone, you will be rewarded with a good relationship, but if you're mean to someone, the ruined relationship will punish you. Simple as that. People took those human reactions and figured, "What the heck, it will definitely be true for some of the time," and added it to their religion. So karma does exist, more or less. (This is really all religion is: exaggerating something believable, and carrying through with it . By the way, you can agree with some aspects of religion and not others without being considered "unfaithful" to your religion.) Also keep in mind that most people who believe in karma do believe in supernatural beings who put it all together, and the only reason there is religion is because everyone wants to know an explanation for life and that answer is very fuzzy. Anyway, this isn't religious music, so it doesn't make you look very intelligent when you rant about how the content of this song doesn't make any sense because you believe in God. People don't tend to like it when people shove religion in their faces when it isn't relevant. Just saying... |

| Radiohead – Bullet Proof...I Wish I Was Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think that this song could be (I don't think this was why it was written, but I think this makes sense) about someone who tries helping everyone with their problems- like a therapist- but only adopts other people's problems. Similar to what brandidragonfly said, I think this person adopts these problems because he/she cares way too much about everything and everyone, so they want to help them. In the end this person has tons of problems ripping him/her apart, and just wishes he/she didn't care and was therefore bullet proof. This song could also mean that someone feels like they are just seen as a disgruntled child's toy, and the person wishes that something could change that but gives up because it will never happen. |

| Radiohead – Nice Dream Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
In the first verse, the person or other is basically compared to a plant (or it is a plant). That might be because plants are living, but people treat them as merely objects, just like how the character (by the way, has anyone noticed that most Radiohead songs could have been written from the perspective of almost anything, which could also represent the concept that people take everything for granted?) probably feels is treated as, however alive it may be (haha, "it"). I also think this song could be about the idea that everyone has an ideal life locked up somewhere within the walls of their minds, but it is usually impossible to find in real life. I feel like this song helps explain the idea that that nice dream becomes the only wanted reality however surreal it is. |

| Ingrid Michaelson – Black and Blue Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think that this song could mean anything, really. It doesn't just have to be about a broken romance. It could be about anything that "let [something] fall". It could be about how when a child loses his/her innocence, the toy's perspective ("I'm black and blue, And in love with you. You said, you never would let me fall. You never would let me fall, but I'm falling.") or it could be about how things like responsibility and time let someone down, et cetera, et cetera. |

| Regina Spektor – Two Birds Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Haha, I just watched The Birds... Awkward... I love this song, though... I think it's about two people who are really close, but one is more adventurous than the other and that one asks the other one to help support them, but the second one just thinks the first is crazy and refuses to follow the person.. It's kind of like authority vs. adolescent: teens can't do anything unless their trusted authorities (the birds stuck on the wire) agree to it. It could also be about a romantic relationship or friendship where one is more motivated than the other to make the relationship deeper (maybe because fear got in the way), and I know a lot of people think that's what the song is about, so I'm just adding it because I agree :) Whatever the meaning of this song is, it always somehow finds a way to connect to my life because I'm always that bird trying to leave the wire but I hate loneliness, so I don't want to make two people lonely (me and someone else) and end up forever being stuck hovering above the wire letting the other person hold my hand... It's kind of depressing if you think about it :-\ |
